About Mario: Mario comes from the nearby town of San Mateo Milpas Altas. He was referred to Casa Jackson by a local hospital for treatment of severe Kwashiorkor malnutrition. His mother wanted to be by his side throughout his recovery, so she stays with him at Casa Jackson. She has several other children who support her decision to stay with Mario until he comes home and they can all be together again.
UPDATE:Mario went home on April 28, 2012 at a healthy weight of 13.12 lbs.
