About Julio: With his big eyes and constant smile, Julio quickly earned himself a reputation as the “easiest baby” at Casa Jackson! He is content to sit and cuddle for hours, smiling up at his caregiver and making sounds to talk to them. As Julio grows stronger, he is beginning to roll over, and can sit up for a few seconds with help from our volunteers. However, Julio hasn’t shown a great interest in eating. He takes bottles very slowly and rarely finishes them. Julio now receives food through a feeding tube to ensure that his weight does not drop any further. In time, as his stomach becomes accustomed to a larger volume of food and his appetite picks up, the tube will be removed.
UPDATE: Julio Rafael, who became a big brother this month when his mother gave birth to another beautiful little boy, returned home with his loving parents and dedicated grandmother on May 12, weighing 16 pounds. Although Julio remains slightly underweight for his age, he has made great progress and his grandmother stayed with him at CJ for the final 2 weeks of his stay to learn how to help Julio continue growing and developing at home.
