“José”

By GCP.Megan.Kadrmas
Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Jose LimaAge: approximately 18 months
Birthday: ?
Date Admitted: October 27, 2011
Weight at time of admittance: 15.13 Lbs.
About José: “Jose” came to us one Friday morning, crying so hard that his little body shook. He had a horrible cough and was clearly exhausted, but fighting sleep as hard as he could. The firefighters that brought him told us a sad story. Jose had been abandoned in the street outside of their station the night before. He spent part of the night outside in the cold before he was found and brought inside. He cried in the arms of our volunteers, cried in his crib, and cried during feedings. He refused to sleep for more than a few minutes, and clung to the neck of whoever was holding him and let out choked sobs for “mama.”

While Jose still cries for “mama” each night, the bronchitis that he arrived with has finally cleared up, and he enjoys playing with his new friends at Casa Jackson. He is a strong, sturdy little fellow and is constantly exploring his new environment. He loves playing patty-cake and tries to sing along to songs that our volunteers sing. He has a long, uncertain road ahead of him, but thankfully, for now, he is safe and loved.
