About Alex: Alex is a quiet little fellow who is content to lie in his crib and listen to the music from his mobile, but gets very excited and smiley when a loving volunteer approaches to play or cuddle. What his sweet, round face does not reveal is the very sad event that brought him into the world. His mother was raped and became pregnant with Alex. Despite the tragic nature of his conception, his mother cares deeply for him and his older sister, Azucena, who is also staying at Casa Jackson. Their mother fled an abusive home with her two young children, leaving their older siblings safe with a relative. Alex and Azucena’s mother is staying at Casa Jackson while they recover, and is receiving support from the Casa Jackson social worker to ensure the family returns to a better home than the one they left.
UPDATE: Alex was discharged November 11, 2011 at a healthy weight of 11.8 lbs.
